FAQ
Q. How old were you when you wrote your first book?
I was in fifth grade. It was called Kenny, and it was a shameless (but accidental) rip-off of ET, with a little bit of The Outsiders thrown in. (Kenny was an alien.) My friend illustrated it, and we won second place in the local library’s Write and Illustrate Your Own Book Contest. We even made it into the card catalog. First place, as I recall, went to The Girl Who Had Worms For Hair. It was about a girl with really ugly curly hair. (This, coincidentally, was the same problem I had at the time.)
Q. Seven Deadly Sins is set in the desert -- have you ever actually been there yourself?
Yes, at least twice.

And here's a picture to prove it.
Q. Who's who on the back cover of the Seven Deadly Sins?
From left: Kane, Adam, Beth, Harper, Reed, Kaia, and Miranda.
Q. How many languages do you speak?
One well: English.
One a little: French.
And one enough to say things like, “No, I would not like to eat the pigs’ knuckles.”: German*
Q. Aren't you embarrassed to admit that you watch General Hospital?
Not at all! Okay, maybe a little. But I can’t help myself. Don’t blame me—I was soap opera free until I was fourteen. That summer my aunt got my cousin and I hooked on The Young and the Restless. Eventually I switched to General Hospital because it came on after I got home from school. And because it’s awesome.
Q. Do you have any pets?
Not now. But pets of my childhood include:
Angelina, my first goldfish
GP, my guinea pig
Cocoa, the stuffed golden retriever I pretended was a real dog
Feivel Gerbilskewitz, a gerbil who never let anyone pet it
Trouble, a very nasty bird
Archibald Bumblefish III, the best goldfish in the land, may he or she rest in peace
Q. Admit it, there is such a thing as too much TV.
That is not a question. It's also not true.
